(ISEET) Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test

Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET): The Common Engineering Entrance Examination:

The Human Resource Development Ministry, Government of India is all set to go ahead with its plan to conduct a common engineering entrance examination from 2013, but the first nation-wide test may only cover technical institutions funded by the Centre.

IIT-JEE and AIEEE — for long the gateways to India’s top engineering colleges including the IITs and  NITs— is all set to be replaced by a brand new test to be called as ISEET -  Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test. As reported by The Indian Express on January 31, the new exam modeled on lines of the international test - ‘SAT’ comes into force starting 2013. The introduction of this test is expected to help do away with multiple entrance examinations and thereby reduce the stress levels of students.

ISEET Exam Date (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test): 

The ISEET is going to be effective for admissions into the IITs and NITs for Admission year 2013 and therefore is expected to be conducted in either March or April 2013.

ISEET Test Pattern (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test):
ISEET will have two papers on the same day:
ISEET Main:

• Duration of ISEET Main – 3 hours
• Paper-Test Pattern of ISEET Main – Areas Tested at ISEET:
• Reading Comprehension & Critical Thinking and Logical Reasoning
• Weightage to ISEET Main: 30% minimum

ISEET Advance:

• Duration of ISEET Advance3 hours.
• Paper-Test Pattern of ISEET Main – Areas Tested at ISEET:
• Problem Solving Ability in Basic Science Subjects
• Weightage for ISEET Advance: 30% minimum
• The two tests ISEET Main and ISEET Advance together will indicate a candidate’s scholastic level and aptitude for science and engineering.

The Selection Process from ISEET (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test):

A student’s performance in the Class 12 Board exam will be considered, with the weightage not less than 40 per cent of the total score. The combined weight for ISEET Main and ISEET Advance will not be more than 60 per cent; however, the weightage given to Board scores can go up to 100 per cent.

Each state government or institute will be able to decide the specific weightage it gives to Board, ISEET Main and ISEET Advance exam/test scores. A committee headed by Dr T Ramasami, secretary in the Department of Science & Technology, has demonstrated with the help of the Indian Statistical Institute that school scores across various Boards can be normalized through a statistical process.

HRD Ministry’s Proposal on ISEET:

HRD Ministry's proposed move to conduct the Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET) from 2013, as a successor to the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Exam (IIT-JEE) and All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) has stirred up apprehensions amongst the experts and certain State Governments. However, a final decision is likely to be taken in the forthcoming conference of State Education Ministers which is likely to take place on February 22, 2012.

Number of Students Expected to Take the ISEET:

Currently published figures for the students taking IIT-JEE are approximately 4.25 lac and those taking AIEEE are in the range of about 12 lacs. Assuming that there is a complete overlap between the students who take IIT-JEE as well as AIEEE – the expected minimum number of ISEET takers will be 12 lacs for the year 2013. The number of takers of ISEET can of course increase given that the board examinations now constitute 40% of the weightage for selection into the ISEET affiliated technical institutions and colleges. Additionally the number of students taking the ISEET will rise once again when the State Level Engineering Tests are replaced with ISEET.

ISEET Conducting Body:  Who will conduct, Manage and Set the ISEET test paper?

The ISEET is expected to be managed and conducted by the CBSE board of examinations at a central level. It is also proposed by the government that the setting of the ISEET papers both ISEET main and ISEET advance be handed over to IITs.

10th class results on line

Andhra Pradesh AP SSC Results 2012 Marks List Download Stats Soon.

Andhra Pradesh Government had Recently conducted Final Examination for 10th Class student. Students are eagerly waiting for their results. Till date there is no official announcement about theses examination results. We are expecting AP SSC Results on May 23rd 2012. This year government may publishes results with marks too.

Every Year SSC Board publishes the results without marks. but this year we expecting that SSC Board is going to publish SSC Exam Results with Marks too. If the marks not announced, i’m sure that board will make few arrangement to get marks with SMS System and by Cal and in all APOnline and in ESEVA Centers.
Andhra Pradesh Government is making all arrangements to keep the Students SSC Marks List in their official website. we are expecting SSC Mark List is available by August 2012 in their Official Website.

IIT-JEE 2012 Brouchure

Skilled readers do not simply absorb the information presented on the page; instead, they maintain a constant attitude of interpretation and evaluation, reasoning from what they have read so far to create a picture of the whole and revising that picture as they go. Text Completion questions test this ability by omitting crucial words from short passages and asking the test taker to use the remaining information in the passage as a basis for selecting words or short phrases to fill the blanks and create a coherent, meaningful whole.

Question Structure

• Passage composed of one to five sentences
• One to three blanks
• Three answer choices per blank (five answer choices in the case of a single blank)
• The answer choices for different blanks function independently; i.e., selecting one answer choice for one blank does not affect what answer choices you can select for another blank
• Single correct answer, consisting of one choice for each blank; no credit for partially correct answers

Tips for Answering

Do not merely try to consider each possible combination of answers; doing so will take too long and is open to error. Instead, try to analyze the passage in the following way:

• Read through the passage to get an overall sense of it.
• Identify words or phrases that seem particularly significant, either because they emphasize the structure of the passage (words like although or moreover) or because they are central to understanding what the passage is about.
• Try to fill in the blanks with words or phrases that seem to complete the sentence, then see if similar words are offered among the answer choices.
• Do not assume that the first blank is the one that should be filled first; perhaps one of the other blanks is easier to fill first. Select your choice for that blank, and then see whether you can complete another blank. If none of the choices for the other blank seem to make sense, go back and reconsider your first selection.
• When you have made your selection for each blank, check to make sure the passage is logically, grammatically and stylistically coherent.

   The overall tone of the passage is clearly complimentary. To understand what the author of the book is being complimented on, it is useful to focus on the second blank. Here, we must determine what word would indicate something that the author is praised for not permitting. The only answer choice that fits the case is “obscure,” since enhancing and underscoring are generally good things to do, not things one should refrain from doing. Choosing “obscure” clarifies the choice for the first blank; the only choice that fits well with “obscure” is “overshadowed.” Notice that trying to fill blank (i) without filling blank (ii) first is hard — each choice has at least some initial plausibility. Since the third blank requires a phrase that matches “enormous gaps” and “sparseness of our observations,” the best choice is “superficiality of our theories.”
   Thus the correct answer is choice A (overshadowed), choice E (obscure) and choice I (superficiality of our theories).
2. Vain and prone to violence, Caravaggio could not handle success: the more his(i)__________ as an artist increased, the more (ii)__________ his life became.

   Explanation
   In this sentence, what follows the colon must explain or spell out what precedes it. So, roughly, what the second part must say is that as Caravaggio became more successful, his life got more out of control. When one looks for words to fill the blanks, it becomes clear that “tumultuous” is the best fit for blank (ii), since neither of the other choices suggests being out of control. And for blank (i), the best choice is “eminence,” since to increase in eminence is a consequence of becoming more successful. It is true that Caravaggio might also increase in notoriety, but an increase in notoriety as an artist is not as clear a sign of success as an increase in eminence.
   Thus the correct answer is choice C (eminence) and choice D (tumultuous).
3. In parts of the Arctic, the land grades into the landfast ice so _______ that you can walk off the coast and not know you are over the hidden sea.

   (B) imperceptibly

   Explanation
   The word that fills the blank has to characterize how the land grades into the ice in a way that explains how you can walk off the coast and over the sea without knowing it. The word that does that is “imperceptibly”; if the land grades imperceptibly into the ice, you might well not know that you had left the land. Describing the shift from land to ice as permanent, irregular or precarious would not help to explain how you would fail to know, while describing it as slight would suggest that there was hardly any grading from one to the other, the opposite of what is needed.
   Thus the correct answer is choice B (imperceptibly).
